I’m promoting the three books I’ve published this year

The Love and Wisdom Crimes is a novel based on real experiences. In it Jane returns to South Africa as apartheid ends to unlock the secrets of her past as a young political activist in a police state.

My collection of poetry, The Spiral-bound Notebooks contains my early poems that form the foundations of both my novel and my memoir.

That book, When I Was Bad, is the raw account of my escape from South Africa to London, as the unmarried mother of a mixed-race child.

I’ll be at the following three events: –

Au Tour du Livre

Au’Tour du Livre is the annual French book fair at the Multimedia Centre at Vic-en-Bigorre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday, 21st. September. Writers, publishers, and illustrators all take part as well as the bookshop La Litote.

It has included English authors for the past three years. This year Nick Inman will be there with his invaluable Travel Guides, Perry Taylor with his delightful and humorous take on life in France and Clara Villaneuva with her thoughtful creative writing.

Please come – we value your support.

My three books will be launched at La Litote

La Litote is a wonderful bookshop to be found at 14 Avenue Joseph Fitte, Vic-en-Bigorre on Friday 27th  September between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. I will read from my books and I shall be speaking about what drove me to write them and what being a writer is all about. Space is limited so it’s important to book. You can telephone the shop, 05 62 37 54 58 , or email me at ruth@ruthhartley.com.

The Salon du Livre at Lourdes

On Saturday 30th. November I shall be once more presenting my books at the Salon du Livre at Lourdes in the Médiathèque, again from 10 a.m . to 6 p.m. This is a first for me, so I should be very pleased to see you.
